YPFers off to the JTM

The objectives of the AGIT are to contribute to the advancement of young people in the gas industry through support for study, education and research across all sectors of the gas industry. From a highly qualified field, the four successful candidates were Clayton Warner – Fyfe Pty Ltd, Josh Wickham – GPA Engineering, Thomas Schambron – BlueScope Steel and Douglas Woods – OSD Pipelines

Following the JTM, the four scholarship winners will be joined by two researchers from the Energy Pipelines Co-operative Research Centre (EPCRC), Cheng Lu from the University of Wollongong and Nicolas Coniglio from the University of Adelaide, for the two-week study tour. The group will visit San Francisco, Los Angeles, Houston, Calgary and Edmonton to learn from companies such as Pacific Gas & Electric, Southern California Gas, Williams Gas Pipelines, TransCanada Pipelines and Enbridge Pipelines Inc.

The JTM is a world-class forum which is held every two years and reflects one of the most significant collaborations in pipeline research formed by the tripartite partnership of APIA, the USA-based Pipeline Research Council International (PRCI) and the European Pipeline research Group (EPRG), who together have members operating on five continents.

The JTM is a unique opportunity to collaboratively demonstrate pipeline research excellence and to address the challenges confronting the pipeline industry at a global level. The JTM was last held in May 2009 in Milan, Italy and this year’s event will be hosted by the PRCI. Throughout the course of the JTM, there will be 30 high-level presentations delivered by international experts from within the fields of advanced design; girth weld properties, performance and assessment; corrosion protection, assessment and management; and, pipeline integrity. There will also be two workshop sessions featuring four parallel sessions covering each of the four nominated fields.
