The direct sailings support the growth of the Australian resource sector and further demonstrate Wallenius Wilhelmsen (WWL’s) commitment to the industry.
The two direct sailings will have a mid- and end-month load position from Galveston, Texas.
Offering state-of-the-art heavy duty roll-on/roll off (Ro/Ro) and Pure Car and Truck Carrier (PCTC) vessels, WWL is able to carry a wide range of cargo for the mining, construction, oil and gas sectors.

What do the ships usually carry?
WWL vessels carry a wide range of different cargo. The company delivers innovative and sustainable global shipping and logistics solutions for manufacturers of cars, trucks, heavy equipment and specialised cargo.
What’s impressive about the latest WWL fleet (Mark V vessels) is that these new vessels are the largest of their kind. With 50,335 sq m in deck area, 31,250 sq m is reserved for high and heavy cargo. The strengthened stern ramp has a 500 t capacity, and cargo can even be loaded on the weather deck, which has a ramp from the deck below. This allows WWL to cater more effectively for the heavy equipment and specialised cargo sector.
Some examples of what WWL have carried in the past are rail cars, power generators, mining equipment (rolling and static equipment), yachts and even a space shuttle.
Whether it is a heavy duty dump truck that stands 5.6 m tall or a 100 t gas compressor moving on a specialised roll-trailer, WWL has the expertise and service to ensure needs are all covered.
Do the ships carry pipeline-related materials?
WWL carries a wide range of pipeline related cargo, such as trench diggers, pipe-layers and compressor units. In addition, WWL has invested in certified stanchions that lock into the roll trailer, which now enables the carriage of loose pipe on the company’s Ro/Ro vessels. This is an example of WWL’s ability to offer a solution to the market to transport small to medium-sized parcels of pipe. This will ensure that WWL can transport this type of cargo without having to bundle or have to deliver alongside under hooks. WWL also carries steel plate and coils.
Do the ships make any stopovers on their trip down to Australia?
