WA YPF unleashes their inner superhero

An exciting twist was added to this year’s event, with all golfers invited to attend as their favourite superhero. Approximately 25 golfers representing nine companies – WDS, APA Group, Atteris, OSD, Pipeline Integrity, Nacap, Enerflex, DBP and Monadelphous KT – competed in an Ambrose-style competition.

Lessons learned from the 2012 annual lawn bowls event ensured that the YPF committee had formed contingency plans in the event of inclement weather. Luckily these remained as plans only and playing conditions were ideal, with on-course temperatures recorded at 20 degrees Celcius and above.

Teams teed off after lunch and it soon became apparent that there would be some stiff competition to take out the flags for longest drive and closest to the pin. On the other hand, some golfers’ shots went slightly astray with Supa Golf balls found in the emu enclosure adjoining the third green and floating in water hazards.

After an entertaining display of golfing skills the teams retired to an adjacent microbrewery for some nibbles and networking over drinks. Upon tallying of the scorecards it was found that there was a three-way tie for first place. As there could be only one winning team, the tie was broken according to traditional engineering standards. Team Charlie’s Angels from Enerflex, which consisted of Peter Kneale, Kate Smith, Blair Ambrose and Dave Smith, dominated in this challenge and each member was presented with a trophy. Team Charlie’s Angels were also deservedly winners of the best dressed award having put in the effort to make their own costumes.

The WA YPF committee would like to thank Atteris, Monadelphous KT and WDS for their generous sponsorship of this event.
