With the boom continuing in WA and the noted continued dominance of one of the WA Chapter’s long term sponsors and members, Alinta, the focus shifted for the seminar toward some alternative projects (such as water infrastructure and deep sea offshore pipelines), new technology and regulatory and environmental updates. All sessions were well-attended with the diverse range of topics appealing to a broad audience.
Only a few hours after the seminar closed most of the seminar attendees plus many other APIA members returned to the Parmelia Hilton dressed for the theme “˜Star Studded WA – Rolling With The Good Times.’ The red carpet was out and the paparazzi were in full swing with photographers mingling through the crowd of more than 100 people, looking for that next big snap! Attendees were blinded by camera flashes as they entered the room after pre-dinner drinks.
With the formalities and speeches taken care of early in the night, the crowd moved through dinner and onto the dance floor until the late hours of Friday night. Rumour has it (and some photographers have proof!) that as per tradition a group of die-hard partygoers continued into the wee hours of the morning.
The event was well-received by all attendees with everyone already looking toward next year’s event, if not the Annual Convention at the Gold Coast.
