Victorian Young Pipeliners gain industry insight at speaker night

Organised and run by the Young Pipeliners Forum – Victoria branch, a delegation of the Australian Pipeline Industry Association, saw a mix of presenters from Victoria take the stage and present on projects and their role within the industry.

The speaker night gave the opportunity for young members to present and gain feedback from their peers as well as a special reviewer, APIA Business Manager Steve Dobbie, who flew to Melbourne to attend the presentations and give feedback to the presenters.

Four presentations were delivered over the night, each with diverse topics ranging from APA’s Anthony Jones detailing the APA Northern Interconnect Expansion Project to Sylvia Low’s delivery of the importance of problem solving tools that Shell utilises to assist in issue resolution.

The night also saw Shane Quintal from Nacap illustrate his in-field experience in northern Queensland and the construction challenges that the Australia Pacific LNG Project encountered.

CNC Project Management Project Coordinator Allison Hawke delivered a captivating speech on the permit process, with a comparison between the requirements of pipelines and wind farm projects.

The event well was received by all attendees and the Victorian YPF plan to hold a follow-up evening in the coming months to allow other members the opportunity to present.
