Valmec is a leading Australian energy, resources and infrastructure services group which provides a range of construction, commissioning and maintenance services across Australia.
The company provides services across the full lifecycle of assets; from conception to decommission. APA and Valmec have had a successful relationship since the two companies entered a contract together in 2013 in which Valmec provided a compressor station to one of energy major’s Western Australian facilities.
As of the announcement, APA is developing the ECG Expansion Project which will involve the installation of additional compression facilities on the existing Moomba to Wilton Pipeline (MWP) as well as the South West Queensland Pipeline (SWQP).
The MWP is a 1300km bi-directional pipeline between the two townships, whereas the SWQP is a transmission pipeline which is comprised of two parallel pipelines 400mm and 450mm in diameter linking Wallumbilla in QLD to Moomba.
The installation will enable a 12 per cent increase in gas transportation capacity in order to supply additional gas to NSW and VIC ahead of forecast southern state winter supply risks.
Valmec has been contracted to provide civil, structural, mechanical and piping, and electrical and instrumentation (CSMPEI) works for the project, associated with the construction of new compressor stations as part of the ECG Expansion Project at Condobolin and Eromanga.
