Valmec Managing Director Steve Dropulich said that while merging two businesses together can normally be quite challenging, he is pleased with the progress already made by the company.
“Integration of two business is always more than just changing business cards and logos. It is about alignment of cultures, merging teams and removing duplication of resources to unlock efficiencies.
“Valmec is pleased with how the transition has progressed to date and the positive feedback we have received from our customers,” said Mr Dropulich.
“Our first notable success together was securing the major compressor package overhaul contract for Origin Energy for 11 production units. We were able to leverage off the core skills sets of both companies and, in-line with Valmec’s focus on delivering client value, provided an innovative and cost-effective solution to Origin that has worked out positively for both companies.
“We are now looking at utilising similar strategies for other clients who are actively pursuing alternative and innovative solutions in the ever tightening market.”
Valmec now services gas-engine compressors and generators across Australia in almost every state and have overhaul, inventory and service facilities in Dalby, Queensland and Perth, Western Australia.
A new Valmec facility is also on the cards for South Australia to service clients in the Cooper Basin, kicking off with the appointment of a new Adelaide-based executive to head up the operations from the third quarter of 2015.
Concurrent with the acquisition, Valmec are now also the exclusive agent for Exterran compression products in Australia.
In the past few years, Exterran has supplied gas engine compressor packages for APA Group at Mondarra (re-injection), Epic Energy (now APA Group) at the Wallumbilla Hub (gas pipeline transmission) and Santos (unconventional gas production).
Valmec already has in-house multidiscipline construction capabilities where lean, efficient self-execution of gas and pipeline facilities projects has proven to be a strong differentiator for the group.
The addition of the service group to the company now allows a whole-of-life service offering to the industry as well as the ability to provide integrated turnkey solutions.
Valmec successfully completed the Turee Creek compressor station project for APA Group in remote Western Australia in 2014, involving the complete civil, mechanical and electrical/instrumentation scopes for the facility – comprising two off Solar Centaur 50 centrifugal gas compressors, aftercoolers, control room, generators and balance of plant scopes.
Valmec also completed the brownfield upgrades and modifications to the Wallumbilla hub in Queensland in 2014, and are currently constructing the pipeline and station facilities scope for the Eastern Goldfields Pipeline for APA Group in Western Australia.
“Whilst the Valmec name is three years young, a look at our team of known and trusted employees shows that our true depth of experience stretches far beyond that timeframe,” said Mr Dropulich.
“Our clients are seeing the value and we are committed to keep on delivering it.”
