Vale: Judith Helen Ohl

Known as Judi to one and all, she was full of love, life and happiness and brought a sparkle to the lives of all those who knew her.

Born in Brisbane, Judi was one of seven children raised by May and George Calvert.

Judi married Stephen Ohl in 1973 and the pair moved frequently for Stephen’s work.

Their first child, Rachel, was born in Singapore in 1977; Timothy and Katie were born in Texas (US) in 1979 and 1981 respectively; and Lucy was born in Brisbane in 1985.

The family also lived in Indonesia, South Korea, Melbourne, Moonie, Canberra, Sydney and Perth before settling on the Sunshine Coast in 2012.

Judi was the wife of Stephen Ohl, Life Member of the APGA, winner of the 2014 Outstanding Contribution to the Pipeline Industry Award and recognised Pipeline Industry Legend of Australia.

Judi always supported Stephen in his work and was acknowledged by Stephen as the other half of team Ohl, responsible for these achievements.

Judi attended 28 annual Australian pipeline industry conventions beginning with the 1986 Brisbane convention.

She formed many lifelong connections at these conventions and always looked forward to the opportunity to catch up with friends and get in some dancing time.

Judi loved to dance and was usually first onto the dance floor and last off, with or without Stephen.

There was never any shortage of willing dancing partners.

Unfortunately, due to her battle with cancer, she and Stephen were unable to attend the 2015 convention.

Judi was married to Stephen for 42 years.

She was the mother to Rachel, Timothy, Katie and Lucy and grandma of Molly.

To all her nephews and nieces she was the best aunty ever.

Judi was, in the words of Michael Jackson, “Like a comet blazing “˜cross the evening sky, gone too soon”.
