The T1155 Commander 3 is powered by a Caterpillar C15 403 kW Tier 3 emission certified engine that utilises a water-cooled turbo for improved engine reliability. Its high torque, powerful and efficient hydrostatic transmission is based on proven Vermeer technology and features an exclusive Rotary Power headshaft motor. The 16 litre headshaft motor allows the use of a single motor so that the cab can be located between the cross conveyor and trencher attachment, improving the operator’s visibility of the trench.
The TEC Plus electronic control system makes it easy for the operator to monitor machine functions. Using the proven TEC 2000 system as a foundation, the T1155 communicates with control modules strategically located throughout the machine. The TEC Plus control system features more advanced troubleshooting capabilities, a larger and more user friendly display screen and the same trencher control system found on the TEC 2000.
The Rollover Protective Module cab is 40 per cent larger than previous Vermeer cabs on units of this size. It is equipped with a swivel air-ride seat, tinted Lexan windows, filtered and pressurised incoming air, AM/FM stereo, heater, air conditioner, and sound-attenuating foam. The cab elevates with the Vermeer parallel linkage lift system, and has a low-profile dash. In combination, these features offer a virtually unrestricted view of the boom, trench and conveyor.
The sectionalised boom bridge can be adjusted to accommodate a variety of digging depths and can reach up to 3.6 m when using the trench cleaner or short restraint bar. With the longer restraint bar in place, depths of up to 4.8 m can be achieved.
The T1155 is pre-wired and ready to accept both telemetrics, which monitor engine hours and location, and most laser systems, which allow the machine to hold grade in critical applications. An optional Remote Attachment Control lets the operator or maintenance crew start and stop the engine, raise and lower the boom, and rotate the chain while not in the cab, allowing for faster cutter base inspection and tooth change out.
The T1155 has a weight range of 53,500 – 77,100 kg and with sideplates that run from headshaft to tracks, the unit has exceptional frame strength.
Another trencher in Vermeer’s product range is the innovative RTX1250 ride-on trencher with a quad-track design. This unique application of the quad-track concept delivers exceptional traction and stability, with outstanding flotation in soft or sandy soils.
This quad-track design enhances the performance of the standard dual track system. For example, the RTX1250 has relatively no break-over point, which improves operator comfort and control. It also maximises tractive effort and stability by maintaining constant four-point ground contact and providing full power to all four tracks. The specialised undercarriage system with suspension offers a new level of versatility by fitting either rubber tyres or tracks, depending on ground conditions and application needs. The ground drive features available on rubber tyre units, such as axle oscillation, four-wheel steer and crab steering, are also functional with the quad-tracks.
The unit also features an 89 kW Cummins turbocharged, air-cooled engine that delivers a more aggressive torque curve. This results in a 4 kW power bulge that allows the trencher to run at maximum horsepower in work mode. The RTX1250 is capable of trenching depths of up to 183 cm, and widths of up to 46 cm, as well as being equipped with pulling plow blades that can reach up to 91 cm deep.
All attachment controls on the operator’s station are located within easy reach on the right side of the tractor. For added comfort, the operator’s station rotates 90 degrees, allowing the operator to select unlimited positions. The attachment controls rotate with the operator, keeping them within easy reach at all times. The RTX1250 also features automotive-style steering, a servo-controlled ground-drive system and standard planetary axles.
In addition, the RTX1250 exclusive forward/reverse ground-drive foot pedal with patented creep override leaves the operator’s hands free to control the many versatile tools. If the operator leaves the seat with the attachment or ground drive engaged, an operator presence system automatically shuts down the machine.
The RTX1250 attachment options include a centre-mounted trencher, hydrostatic plow, rockwheel and backhoe. A joystick control featuring a float position for a six-way backfill blade allows smooth backfilling and finish work. Standard backhoe remote controls permit the operator to precisely reposition the machine without having to leave the operator’s station.
