The Australian Pipeliner (TAP): Can you highlight some of the key initiatives within PCS in recent years?
Petro Coating Systems (PCS): PCS has been active developing name recognition, with the desire to become the leading supplier of field joint coating systems within the industry, providing both excellence in customer service and the best possible range of internationally recognised pipeline coatings. To enable these goals to be achieved, the following key initiatives have been implemented:
- 1993 – Began by marketing “Petro” Petrolatum Tape systems
- 1995 – Added Petrocote Bitumen tapes to the range
- 1999 – Commenced manufacturing our own range of Petrolatum Tapes and associated products
- 2001 – Nick Grenier appointed as National Sales Manager to re-define current product ranges and to develop new opportunities.
- 2001 – Craig Naven appointed as Business Development Manager to enhance our presence in Western Australia.
- 2001 – PCS appointed the exclusive distributors in Australia for Tyco Adhesives CPG Raychem Heat Shrink Sleeves and Polyken Butyl Tape Systems.
- 2001 – Purchased PCS Headquar-ters in Thomastown, Victoria.
- 2002 – Formation of PCS LP in Houston, Texas, in partnership with LaBarge Pipe & Steel, St Louis, MO, to meet our manufacturing requirements as well as central global positioning for sale and distribution of our products throughout the world.
- 2004 – PCS appointed exclusive distributors for Nu-Bolt/I-Rod Pipe Support products designed to prevent “crevice corrosion” on pipe supports.
- 2004 – PCS appointed exclusive distributors of Tyco Adhesives CPG Powercrete R95 HBE Coating Systems covering all facets of pipeline coating requirements ranging from field joint coatings through to HDD application.
TAP: What have been your major achievements in recent years?
PCS: We have reached our goals to now be in a position to offer the best range of protective coating systems. We have become the leading supplier of field joint coatings supplying a large number of projects (A brief outline of projects is included below).
TAP: What lies ahead for PCS?
PCS: We shall continue to develop the range of products we can provide to service the oil, gas and water industries. In particular we are close to launching our Powercrete R95 HBE coatings for both rehabilitation works as well as high production field joint coating requirements, utilising automated spray equipment. We shall also continue with diversification projects to ensure continued business during the quiet periods synonymous with the pipeline industry.
