Technip Energies subsidiary Genesis has entered into an agreement with Hexagon to undertake pre-feasibility studies (PFS) for the Pedirka blue hydrogen project.
Hexagon is focused on the exploration and development of clean energy and energy materials projects though its flagship Pedirka project.
Located 200 km southeast of Alice Springs in the Northern Territory, Hexagon said the project has easy access to existing pipeline infrastructure and a ready and available workforce.
A number of targeted project-related studies have been prioritised, including construction strategies, waste and biproduct treatment and management, and transportation solutions for coal, CO2 and ammonia.
Genesis is well regarded for its expertise in both the energy and hydrogen fields, and the Technip subsidiary has been tasked with performing a full technical assessment of the potential concepts for the development of the Pedirka project.
This involves identifying and quantifying technical requirements, project risks and opportunities, and scope for further development.
Genesis will also act as Project Integrator if the project extends beyond the PFS stage.
Hexagon said the blue hydrogen that could flow from Pedirka would play a key role in the transition to decarbonisation and zero carbon emissions over the coming decade.
