The 1,210 mile (1,947 km) pipeline would deliver 830,000 bbl/day of crude oil from Hardisty, Alberta, to Steele City, Nebraska, where it would connect with TC Energy’s existing facilities to reach U.S. Gulf Coast refiners.
The companies awarded contracts include:
- Barnard Pipeline (Bozeman, MT)
- Associated Pipeline (Houston, TX)
- Michels (Brownsville, WI)
- Precision Pipeline (Eau Claire, WI)
- Price Gregory International (Katy, TX)
- U.S. Pipeline (Houston, TX)
Keystone XL Pipeline President Richard Prior said the pipeline would play a critical role in North America’s economic recovery.
“The selection of our U.S. construction contractors for 2021 is an important next step in employing thousands more American union workers and delivering tangible benefits to local communities and businesses,” he said.
While development operations are ongoing, the pipeline’s future could depend on the impending US election, with Democratic Party nominee Joe Biden saying he will block the project if elected.
