EPCM Operations Manager and Director John de Robillard said that the whole team is delighted to announce the opening of a new office in New Plymouth, New Zealand. The project, code-named “˜Tasman Surge’, was developed during the second half of 2008.
The office is located in central New Plymouth with views over the Tasman Sea. The city of New Plymouth is the provincial capital of Taranaki, the energy centre of New Zealand, and has well established, world class oil and gas industry expertise. The new office, which became operational on 5 January 2009, consists of approximately 300 sq m of open plan and individual offices serviced by a state of the art computer network and a voice over internet protocol communication system. With this enhanced capability to provide cross-Tasman services to its existing and new clients, EPCM looks forward to an exciting year ahead.
The New Zealand company will operate as EPCM Consultants NZ Ltd. General Manager John Hayles said he is looking forward to providing services to the local industry as well as the ever expanding and exciting Australian industry.
“There is tremendous opportunity to offer cost effective, well engineered solutions to the Australian industry from our New Plymouth office. The work that has gone into harmonising the Australian and New Zealand industry codes, in particular AS2885 – Pipelines Gas and Liquid Petroleum, has increased the opportunity for cross-Tasman involvement and the tyranny of distance has been circumvented by adopting modern communication systems,” Mr Hayles said.
Mr Hayles will be assisted by Engineering Manager Owen McBride. Mr McBride is well known on both sides of the Tasman, having previously worked in New Plymouth, Victoria and Tasmania.
Using this combination of global and Australian knowledge and experience, the services offered cover all phases of a project. With a strong pipeline and facilities engineering design and pipeline operations engineering background, EPCM consultants provide the necessary expertise for the management of engineering issues from feasibility studies, through engineering design and procurement, to construction, commissioning and operational management.
