Surfboats row in remembrance: ANZAC Cove, Gallipoli 2015

Tremco Pipeline Equipment Director Ron Trembath will be doing his part in the ANZAC ceremonies in Gallipoli, Turkey, for the 100-year commemoration of the Gallipoli Landing.

Ron, together with his mates at Coolum Surf Life Saving Club (SLSC) and surfboat crews from around Australia and New Zealand, will participate in the 68 km Gallipoli 100 Surfboat event.

“As proud Australians we feel honoured to be able to pay our respects to the brave men and women who sacrificed so much fighting for our country and the freedom we enjoy today,” said Ron.

The side of the boat displays more than 70 names of Coolum SLSC members who have served in the Australian Armed Forces in overseas conflicts since World War I.

Mr Trembath’s grandfather, Charles Scott Yule (Service No.85), was a Gallipoli veteran and his father and uncle served in World War II.

The surfboats will embark on this epic journey from Eceabat in the Dardanelles, along the Gallipoli Peninsula, into the Aegean Sea and around to the site of the famous World War I landing.
