This year the Convention will return to the Royal Pines Resort at the Gold Coast from 20 to 23 October. This 39th APIA Convention will continue the tradition of bringing together those involved in the pipeline industry both nationally and internationally, onshore and offshore.
Providing updates of major projects and technical developments, and analyses of issues affecting all sectors of the industry, it will also be a celebration of this dynamic and imaginative industry which is continually meeting new challenges.
Some of the industry’s dynamism has been demonstrated through its encouragement of the younger APIA members to participate in events and learn from the more experienced members. It is expected that more young pipeliners than ever will attend this year’s convention, and with a 35 per cent discount for younger first timers, there is certainly plenty of encouragement.
Speakers for the is year’s Convention will include the Hon Craig Wallace, Queensland Minister for Natural Resources and Water and Minister Assisting the Premier in North Queensland and two keynote speakers – Russell Higgins AO, a member of the Prime Minister’s Task Group on Emissions Trading, and US-based Mervyn Sambles, the Vice-President Corporate Development for the Fluor Corporation.
Mick McCormack, Managing Director of the APA Group will discuss the vision for an east Australian gas grid; James Czornohalan from Fyfe Pty Ltd will talk about coal seam methane developments; possibilities for aboveground pipelines will be the topic for Peter Tuft, Director of Peter Tuft and Associates.
Barbara Jinks, Senior Pipeline Engineer for GHD Pty Ltd will give insights into the international gas union and transmission pipelines; and discussing North American Pipeline industry challenges and opportunities will be Martin Axelby, Senior Pipeline Engineer, WorleyParsons Services Pty Ltd.
APIA’s Annual Convention and Exhibition is one of the most important events in the Australian energy industry’s calendar, with high-quality papers providing information about technical, economic, safety, environmental and other issues as well as updates on key projects.
