This group provides a total solution for global sourcing and supply of steel products for the oil and gas, mining, and construction industries.

Founded in 1992, Capital Steel is an import and export trading company based in Australia, with offices in Sydney, Melbourne, and Adelaide. The company has an offshoot called Pacific Industrial Group Ltd, which is based in Hong Kong, with a branch office in Shanghai.

Capital Steel also operates in Papua New Guinea (PNG), where it has been known and respected for more than ten years. In addition, the company has representatives in China and South Korea. Together, this group provides a total solution for global sourcing and supply of steel products for the oil and gas, mining, and construction industries.

Pipe products

Capital Steel is one of Australia’s larger steel products trading companies. The current product range includes:

* Electric resistance welded, longitudinal submerged arc welded and spirally welded pipe – covering a range of Australian and international specifications for water, slurry, oil and gas industries and other structural applications;
* Square and rectangular sections to Australian specifications;
* Black/red painted and galvanized pipe, all to the relevant Australian standards, and all carrying the necessary Underwriters Laboratories/FM approvals;
* Butt-weld, threaded and socket welded fittings;
* Flanges covering British, Japanese, German and American standards; and,
* A full range of structural beams, columns, channels, flat and angled merchant bars and boiler and floor plates.

Projects and partners

Throughout the past few years, Capital Steel has worked with clients to provide steel products for the Moranbah Gas Project, Oil Search’s onshore PNG assets, Berth 10 at the port of Brisbane, the Epping to Chatswood Rail Link, the OK Tedi Mine in PNG, the Bechtel/Rio Tinto Yarwun Project, the Ambatovy Nickel and Cobalt Project in Madagascar, and most recently, the company was awarded a contract to supply the QCLNG Project in Queensland.

The company also partners with major overseas manufacturers including Hyundai and Miju of Korea, Chinese firms Baosteel and Huludao, and Chung Hung Steel of Taiwan.
