The company will supply its mild steel pipes for the Yan Yean to Bald Hill pipeline, which involves the construction of a new 20 km pipeline from the Yan Yean Water Treatment Plant to the Bald Hill, Kalkallo tank site.
Steel Mains pipes will also be manufactured for Melbourne Water’s Olinda to Mitcham Pipeline and the M22/M46 pipeline projects.
Prior to announcing the agreement, Melbourne Water staff had visited Steel Mains Somerton facility to explore the manufacturing process and view the mild steel pipes.
Steel Mains said it was looking forward to working with the utility and the installation contractors to deliver these projects over the next 12 months.
Steel Mains is Australia’s largest manufacturer and supplier of steel pipes and fittings to the water industry, having worked with many of the major water authorities and councils around the country to have its products approved for works to be carried out in their respective regions.
The company said it continues to work closely with the water industry to evolve and strengthen its mild steel jointing, coating and lining technology.
