Schoenbeck joins the ELiTE to provide new solutions for the pipeline industry

The ELiTE 5TD/ CD2 is a small-ranged vacuum lifter for lower ranged pipe weights. With a lifting capacity of 5,000 kg, it can be utilised for both crane and excavator applications – including crane applications with two outer hook-ups, or a straightforward single central-lifting eye.

The V-SB-4/5 spreader bar

The large demand for polyethylene (PE) pipe deployment has necessitated the inclusion of the V-SB-1/5 intermediate spreader bar, which can be mounted below all (5, 12 and 16 tonne (t)) ELiTE vacuum pipe lifters models.

The V-SB-4/5 intermediate spreader bar has two safe working load options, which are clearly marked. The correct working load is determined by the link points of the ELiTE vacuum pipe lifter model, which must not be mistaken.

It is supplied with two shorter suction pads of 24 m which are flexible in their alignment to the pipe surface. Using the optionally available extension fittings, it is possible to link the lifter to only one of the suction pads for shorter pipe lengths of 4 m.

According to Schoenbeck International Business and Product Manager Dave McGuinness, because some PE pipe can be 24 m long, it is really important that the “˜hang-over’ at the pad ends is reduced to an absolute minimum. A PE pipe with excessive hang-over cannot only “˜pop’ away during a radical lift, but can also be damaged or scrapped at the ends once lowered to the floor. “This can be costly,” says Mr McGuinness.

The V-SB-4/5 intermediate spreader bar gives maximum stability and is equipped with vacuum shutoff valves so that the equipment can be completely checked for leakages, as with the main ELiTE pipe lifters, before and during daily work.

The beam section is made of two pieces which are joined together by a sturdy steel flange connection, reducing logistic and packing costs.

A further option for PE pipe deployment is the newly available vacuum pad extension arm. This links the aforementioned short pads for use with the larger 12 t and 16 t models if required.

The AoD

All ELiTE models are now available with the new, innovative “˜smart safe lift system’ called the AoD, or “˜Anti-object drop’, which increases safety levels by minimising human error more than ever before. This safe lifting system is automatically activated once a load has been taken, while a signal disarms the functions of suction mode (pipe release) until the load is safely placed on the ground. The AoD safe lift system has increased the standards for pipe lifting considerably.

Standardised safety features include flash lights for vacuum and engine failure, sirens and check/ none release valves with heavy duty magnetic solenoids for ambient temperatures as low as -40°C.
