Dysart Engineering, which recently moved into new premises at Lot 4, Dysart Bypass Road, Dysart Queensland, employs 50 staff and provides an extensive range of light vehicle mechanical work, glass replacement, tyre services, panel repairs and a heavy truck mechanical facility.
With the purchase effective from late August, Sargent will expand the services offered by introducing up to 200 vehicles from its rental fleet to clients in the Bowen Basin region.
“This key acquisition continues our strategy of establishing ourselves as a leader in the provision of rental and maintenance services in key infrastructure and resources growth markets,” Sargent Chief Executive Officer Grant Chugg said.
“Sargent already has a strong branch presence in Mackay and this latest investment not only expands our presence with a well-respected brand in Dysart, but demonstrates our commitment to the Bowen Basin.
“It’s a well-structured business and we’re very excited about the growth potential moving forward.”
Dysart Engineering will continue to meet the needs of the industry throughout the Bowen Basin. With a turnover of more than $10 million, Dysart Engineering has established strong business relationships across the region. The business also provides onsite accommodation for up to 30 employees.
Dysart Engineering’s previous owner Rod Allen will continue on with Sargent in a business development and strategy role.
Sargent, who has branches across Australia, recently expanded its investment in Western Australia through the purchase of Pilbara business Newman Tyre and Battery. It also last year acquired Karratha-based North West Mechanical, a locally owned and operated mechanical workshop.
Mr Chugg said Sargent was in the process of changing its position within the industry to focus largely on the infrastructure and resources industries, as well as enhancing its presence in mining hotspots such as Queensland’s Bowen Basin.
Sargent provides rental and maintenance of commercial vehicles to a wide range of customers throughout Australia. The company’s fleet of over 3,900 vehicles comprises 4WDs, 2WDs, trucks, buses and specialised vehicles which are provided over a national network of company-owned branches and agencies.
