Safe and sound on Bonaparte with Mediqs Away

Mediqs Away provided on-site medical equipment and support for the duration of the Bonaparte Gas Pipeline project. Mediqs Away doctors are emergency physicians not general practitioners, which improves the outcomes for critically ill patients due to their extensive training and experience.

The company supplied an emergency nurse and an intensive care paramedic, both with remote area and helicopter rescue experience. Both were degree qualified and on call 24 hours per day which essentially provided a greater standard of care to patients. This also meant that a more extensive range of medications was available – especially advanced life support medications.

Mediqs Away said that it was able to supply equipment for the project at a reduced cost to the client and reduced the initial start up costs by 20 per cent from its initial quote without compromising on the quality of the equipment.

“Our focus is on providing quality in a professional and caring manner, and as our medical directors have worked on seismic, pipeline and drilling sites both on and offshore they know how important it is to be able to rely on the medics when people are sick or injured,” the company said.

Providing quality staff ensured that the pipeline crew felt confident in the ability of the medics and that patients were receiving care that was of the highest standard. Quite complex cases were diagnosed and referred on where necessary.

The staff of Mediqs Away also provided education at the weekly safety meetings on topics such as how to maintain healthy feet to reduce the incidence of athletes foot; how to prevent dehydration and snake bite education; along with many more health prevention strategies.

The participation of Mediqs Away enabled the Bonaparte project to continue to full completion, with minimal impact from any illness or injury.

Neil Mansell moves Bonaparte
Neil Mansell Transport played a key role in the construction of the Bonaparte Gas Pipeline project by transporting the pipe required for the 287 km project.
Neil Mansell was contracted to unload seven ships of 323 mm diameter tri-laminate gas pipe, provided by Orrcon, from Darwin port into the stockpile. The pipe was then transported along the pipeline’s right of way between Wadeye and Ban Ban Springs, 200 km south of Darwin. Neil Mansell managed to transport and deliver the pipe ahead of time and without incident, despite harsh road conditions along the way.
Neil Mansell Transport is the core company of the Neil Mansell Group. With prime depot locations in Adelaide, Toowoomba, Brisbane and Moomba, the company specialises in the haulage of crude oil and gas, as well as pipeline contracts.
