RSC members and guests convened in Canberra for the Forum, partly so that major RSC sponsor AusIndustry ICIP, could get a close-up view of how grant money provided to the RSC was being spent.
A total of 60 delegates attended the event, with 29 attendees outside of the official RSC representative members attending the Forum.
The RSC has approximately 38 members, some of which are big companies with many young engineers. The Committee continues to target young engineers and looks forward to more young Pipeliners attending the Forum in the future.
RSC Chair Leigh Fletcher said that the Forum provided an opportunity for the RSC to map out its future plans. He also congratulated new APIA Research Manager Ankie Larsson on the great job she is doing and the massive assistance she has provided to the RSC since joining APIA.
After the Forum, members and guests enjoyed a dinner, with immediate past RSC Chair Max Kimber speaking on the lessons learned in the nation’s pipeline industry.
Two surveys were held regarding the Forum and dinner, which showed that attendees were pleased with the direction and role of the RSC.
In addition the survey showed that RSC members want to continue with the new arrangement of one forum per annum restricted to member representatives and one seminar open to all member employees. The RSC views this new approach as an excellent way to engage young engineers and build the skill set of the RSC.
