Held on 26 July at the Brisbane Hilton, a 300-strong attendee list heard from distinguished guest Mark McArdle, who currently holds the portfolio of Energy and Water Supply in the recently elected Liberal National Party Government in Queensland. Mr McArdle gave an interesting presentation on “˜The role of gas in Australia: opportunities for the gas transmission industry in Queensland.’
In his portfolio, Mr McArdle is responsible for energy efficiency and energy industry development. With natural gas being a major part of Australia’s – and Queensland’s – economy, the gas transmission industry will need his support to ensure the smooth running of the businesses with as little government intervention as possible.
Mr McArdle fielded many questions from inquiring pipeliners and provided interesting responses to set lively discussion for the rest of the night.
