The Queensland Gas Conference and Exhibition (QGCE) combines a two-day conference covering the key issues affecting the industry with an exhibition of some 100 suppliers of equipment and services to the gas sector, said David McCarthy, Exhibition Manager with organiser Reed Exhibitions.
“This will provide an ideal opportunity for anyone involved in coal seam gas (CSG)/LNG in Queensland to see and learn about the latest technology, and talk to key players in the industry,” he said.
Speakers at the conference aside from APIA President Peter Cox include Queensland Minister for Employment, Skills and Mining Stirling Hinchliffe; ABB Australia Chief Executive Officer Axel Kuhr; Head of the LNG Enforcement Unit, Department of Environment and Natural Resource Management Andrew Brier; APPEA Director – Queensland CSG Ross Dunn; Surat Basin Corporation General Manager David Breese; and Surat Basin Engagement Group Chairman John Cotter.
Visitors to the exhibition will be given additional opportunities to focus on new technologies for the Queensland gas sector through the Technology Showcase series of presentations on Tuesday, 16 August. In what will be a highlight of the exhibition, the Technology Showcase will incorporate a workshop on positioning for success on major projects, presented by Industry Capability Network Queensland General Manager Peter Robinson.
On Wednesday, 17 August, the exhibition will have a strong focus on job opportunities and skills development, through workshops aimed at young people and potential new entrants to the industry, as well as at employers.
The conference element of QGCE will be covering all the major issues affecting the CSG/LNG sector, including community involvement, environmental issues, export opportunities and future developments.
“Unlike other events targeting this industry sector, QGCE is a fully integrated conference and exhibition, bringing the widest cross-section of the CSG/LNG sector together in one location, for a stimulating program incorporating information, discussion, debate and technical sessions,” said Mr McCarthy.
“We will be covering the major factors affecting this high-growth new sector, looking at the opportunities, policies, politics, solutions and technologies.”
