The Chevron-operated Gorgon LNG Project has temporarily halted production due to mechanical issues.
This comes after issues with the propane refrigerant unit on Train-1 was reported earlier in the week.
In a statement released by Chevron, it says work necessary to complete the repairs is ongoing while the site team continues equipment inspection and assessment.
Based on initial findings, the repair work is of a routine nature and all the necessary equipment and material is available on site.
Chevron says plant is expected to be up and running again in 30–60 days.
In other news, the first cargo of LNG which left Barrow Island on 21 March was delivered to Chubu Electric Power in Japan yesterday.
The Gorgon Project will develop the Gorgon and Jansz-Io gas fields, located within the Greater Gorgon area, between 130 and 220 kilometres off the northwest coast of Western Australia.
The project is a joint venture of the Australian subsidiaries of Chevron (approximately 47 per cent), ExxonMobil (25 per cent), Shell (25 per cent), Osaka Gas (1.25 per cent), Tokyo Gas (1 per cent) and Chubu Electric Power (0.417 per cent).
