Australian Pipeline and Gas Association (APGA) Chief Executive Cheryl Cartwright told guests that APGA is keen to continue growing relationships with the New Zealand (NZ) Chapter, and announced a golf day followed by dinner and drinks to kick off APGA’s NZ Christmas.
Along with announcing the Association’s name change, Ms Cartwright mentioned the progress made in achieving recognition for pipeline engineers in the special area of practice of oil and gas pipeline engineering.
After the dinner, the guests were treated to a presentation from Plant and Platform Consultants Simon Gillice, who spoke about the AS2885 standard, which he described as “principles and guidelines for competent people”, but commented that it was a risk-based standard that required a lot of interpretation.
Mr Gillice talked about AS2885 as a reference starting point, and emphasised the need to do site surveying, employing the expertise of personnel for each step of the design phase, and gain from the experience of group knowledge.
