Pipeline pigging 2016/17: what’s coming up

A number of pipelines are scheduled to be pigged in 2016/17, make sure to keep on top of what’s happening by checking Pipeline, Plant and Offshore’s (PPO) extensive Project Database regularly.

  • Long Island to Altona Ethane Pipeline – Esso Australia: Esso supplies ethane from its Long Island Point plant via a 78 km, 254 mm diameter pipeline to a number of chemical business operating in Altona in Melbourne’s west.
  • Sydney to Newcastle Liquids Pipeline – Caltex: The 211 km, 350 mm diameter Sydney to Newcastle Liquids Pipeline transports liquids from the Caltex Wharf at Kurnell to the Silverwater and Newcastle terminals.
  • Kambalda to Esperance Pipeline – Esperance Pipeline Company: The 342 km, 168 mm diameter Kambalda to Esperance Pipeline extends from the Goldfields Gas Transmission Pipeline and transports third-party gas within the region to mining, industrial, commercial and domestic consumers.
  • Daly Waters to McArthur River Pipeline – Power and Water Corporation: The 332 km, 168 mm diameter Daly Waters to McArthur River Mine Pipeline has a capacity of 6 PJ/a of gas, and supplies the McArthur River Mine.
  • Palm Valley to Alice Springs Pipeline – AGN: The 147 km, 200 mm diameter Palm Valley to Alice Springs Pipeline was completed in 1983, and includes a 6 km, 150 mm diameter lateral to the Owen Springs Power Station.
  • Jackson to Moomba Pipeline – Santos: In 2008, Santos commissioned the $A33 million, 273 km, 200 mm diameter oil pipeline from Jackson to Moomba in the Cooper Basin, Queensland.
  • Silver Springs to Wallumbilla Pipeline – AGL Energy: Constructed in 1978, the 120 km, 219 mm diameter Silver Springs to Wallumbilla pipeline sends compressed gas from the Silver Springs Gas Plant to Wallumbilla.
