Origin Energy is reported to be preparing the sale of its Darling Downs gas pipelines in Queensland, consisting of three separate pipelines with a total length of 292 km.
The Australian Financial Review reports that Queensland Investment Corporation (QIC), APA Group, AMP Capital and REST Super are all lining up to bid on the asset
Origin operates and maintains the lines but is said to be willing to give up the contract to the new owner.
The auction is expected to take place at the end of March 2016, along with the sales of the Mortlake gas pipeline in Victoria and two wind farms.
The Darling Downs system includes 292 km of gas pipelines in the Surat Basin in Queensland, which supplies the company’s Darling Downs Power Station as well as the Australia Pacific LNG (APLNG) Project, which recently began exporting LNG in January 2016.
