In July 2012, South Australia’s Wakefield Regional Council secured funding from Regional Development Australia towards the cost of SA Water constructing a mains water pipeline from Upper Wakefield near Auburn to Port Wakefield to support growth in the poultry farming sector.
Through the new agreement however, the pipeline’s capacity has been increased to deliver an additional two GL/a by SA Water to assist with supplying Rex Mineral’s Hillside Project, located on the SA’s Yorke Peninsula.
Construction on the pipeline however, remains subject to the project receiving necessary State Government approvals.
