Speaking at today’s Eastern Australia’s Energy Markets Outlook 2014 conference in Sydney, Mr Byers said gas should be viewed the same as other commodity exports, which he says enjoy the support of open markets. “Why should gas be any different?” Mr Byers said. “All east coast governments should instead focus on removing impediments to maximising supply.” Mr Byers also touched on the importance CSG supplies will have in meeting demand for gas on the east coast as offshore exploration drops with increasing capital expenditure, while also commenting on the impact that LNG exports have in driving CSG development.
