Momentum keeps up on GGP, Moomba

Construction continues at Moomba

The Moomba Compressor Station (MCS), a new-build, three-train compression facility for APA Group, is well into construction. Onsite works for the associated pressure reduction and heating station have also commenced.

The facility is located at the Moomba end of the South West Queensland Pipeline (SWQP).The MCS is part of the APA Group’s SWQP Eastern Haul Project, which will add bi-directional flow capabilities to the SWQP, allowing gas to be shipped in either Eastern Haul or Western Haul service. Eastern Haul capability will allow compression of gas for transport from the Cooper Basin region to customers in
south-east Queensland. Engineering for the entire Moomba facility has been completed out of Momentum’s Perth office.

Stations upgrade on the GGP

Upgrade of two existing stations on APA Group’s Goldfields Gas Pipeline (GGP) is nearing commissioning with the installation of new compression facilities, associated utilities and amenities almost complete.

The project involves the addition of new compression facilities at two existing sites on the GGP – the first located at Yarraloola and the second at Paraburdoo, both located in Western Australia.

The construction of a third, new-build two-unit station on the same pipeline has also commenced. Each of the three stations is located in a different, remote part of WA. The GGP projects are all designed to augment pipeline capacity for gas supply to major mine programs located adjacent to the pipeline. APA is managing the project and the existing station upgrades on behalf of the Goldfields Gas Transmission Joint Venture through which APA owns
88.2 per cent of the GGP.
