Under the terms of the deal, LNG will be supplied to the Coburn mine site via road from Woodside’s Pluto LNG Truck Loading Facility near Karratha, Western Australia where it will help power site infrastructure.
Strandline Managing Director Luke Graham said the Coburn project was close to achieving a final investment decision and this deal would help provide cost reductions.
“With key development approvals in place, ~ 95 per cent production pre-sold to highly reputable global customers via long-term offtake contracts, major contractors appointed and development funding secured, Strandline is well on track to become Australia’s next world-scale mineral sands producer,” he said.
Woodside began supplying gas from its Pluto truck loading facility in 2019 to remote mining projects around WA.
Currently, the facility can deliver seven LNG truck loadings per day with capacity expected to increase in the future.
EDL has been delivering trucked LNG since 2007, having delivered more than 1 billion L from Karratha to the Kimberley over 7,000 journeys.
