On 31 May 2014, mechanical completion (MC) was attained at the McNulty field compression station (FCS), part of BG Group’s Queensland Curtis LNG (QCLNG) Project.
Pipemech was engaged by contractor Thiess to undertake the structural, mechanical and piping (SMP) elements of construction.
The target of MC was achieved on time and under budget by the McNulty FCS team.
Pipemech General Manager Simon Ahearn was impressed by the excellent performance of the FCS Team in relation to the health and safety, quality, cost and schedule elements.
The McNulty FCS project encompassed over 50,000 man hours worked with no lost time or recordable injuries or incidents, helping to maintain Pipemech’s lost time injury frequency rate and total recordable injury frequency rate of zero across all of its operations.
Pipemech started work at McNulty FCS on 5 November 2013, prior to receiving the full SMP scope award from Thiess on 18 February 2014.
MC was achieved 15 weeks later with no category A punchlist items.
MC was also achieved by Pipemech at the Kate FCS, also a part of the QCLNG Project, on 29 June 2014.
“This latest Pipemech milestone by the Kate FCS team is testament to the Pipemech mission of “˜provision of exemplary service to all company stakeholders’,” Mr Ahearn said.
“Another health and safety record of zero lost time or recordable injuries or incidents with over 54,000 man hours having been worked at Kate FCS again demonstrates Pipemech’s unwavering commitment to maintaining a safe work place.”
Pipemech Managing Director Rohan Ackroyd said “The team has delivered another fantastic job. The project’s success in achieving MC in a timely and cost effective manner is a reflection of the dedication and commitment of the management team and employees.”
Pipemech is currently working towards MC at Ross FCS, being the fourth FCS awarded to the company by Thiess to undertake the SMP elements of its construction which is part of the QCLNG Project.
By the end of July 2014, 41,000 man hours will have been worked at Ross FCS by Pipemech, achieving 90 per cent completion to this date.
