The contract for Front End Engineering and Design (FEED) work on the PNG Gas Project has been awarded to Eos, a joint venture between WorleyParsons and KBR.
The activities in the FEED program will include preliminary design for the gas field developments in PNG, gas processing and export compression facilities, infrastructure, and the PNG section of the gas pipeline from the Southern Highlands in PNG to the PNG/Australian border. The FEED program is expected to be complete by early 2006. Meanwhile, the AGL-Petronas Consortium, known as Australian Pipeline Company (APC), has also called for tenders for the FEED phase of the Australian component.
Recently, the consortium of Australian Pipeline Trust and ANZ Infrastructure Services was named as the preferred bidder to build, own and operate the 940 km Trans-Territory gas pipeline, subject to final project approval by the Board of Alcan. Financial close is scheduled for June 2005, with construction to commence in 2006 and delivery of gas to Alcan scheduled for end 2007.
The pipeline will extend between the Blacktip Gas fields development, offshore Northern Territory, and Alcan’s Gove alumina refinery, on the Gulf of Carpentaria.
Preparation is also underway for the much-needed expansion of the DBNGP. The expansion programme is expected to include looping of a number of sections of the pipeline as well as additional compression. To keep up-to-date on all the latest pipeline, plant and offshore news, visit www.ppo.com.au
