Santos is fielding interest for a wellhead platform (WHP) EPC contract for the Dorado Project, an oil development located approximately 150 km northwest of Port Hedland offshore WA.
The project made headlines in 2018 when then project operator Quadrant Energy described the oil discovery in the region as “staggering”.
Santos has since acquired Quadrant and its share of the project, currently operating Dorado alongside 20 per cent stake holder Carnarvon Petroleum.
The WHP will be located in 92 km of water depth and will support 16 well slots and dry trees, 3 risers and umbilicals, processing equipment, 200 t of piping and valves, well controls, a helideck and a 25 t capacity crane.
The WHP is also required to interface with a jack-up mobile offshore drilling unit to drill the wells and install the wellheads.
A final investment decision on Dorado is anticipated in 2021.
