President’s Message Shaun Reardon, President, APGA At the recent Australian Domestic Gas Outlook 2016 conference, keynote speaker and Australian Competition and Consumer Commission Chairman Rod Sims flagged some early thinking from the commission’s East Coast Gas Inquiry. While Mr Sims did address the global and domestic uncertainty contributing to tighter gas supply in eastern Australia, he indicated that he saw a greater role for regulation in the pipeline sector. President’s Message Shaun Reardon, President, APGA I am delighted to have been elected APGA President at our recent convention on the Gold Coast. It’s an honour to lead such a highly regarded organisation, and to represent an industry that underpins the national economy and promotes the prosperity and comfort of all Australians. As my first official duty, I’d like to thank immediate past President Mark Dayman. Mark leaves a legacy of strong leadership and productive engagement with our members and policymakers. I have worked with Mark on the Association’s board for a number of years now, and have always admired…

President’s Message Mark Dayman, President, APGA This is my sign-off message as President of APGA and I will hand over the reins to the new APGA President at the Convention on the Gold Coast. The Gold Coast is a timely destination given the progress of the LNG developments within Queensland. I look forward to the opening address of the Hon. Dr Anthony Lynham MP, Minister for State Development and Natural Resources and Mines in Queensland. At the time of writing, registrations, exhibition sales and sponsorship were on track to exceed expectations and deliver an outstanding Convention. Being elected President of…

President’s Message Mark Dayman, President, APGA Every three years the Australian Pipelines and Gas Association Board takes time out to review the strategy for our Association. On the 18–19 February this year, the Board met with the Secretariat to consider the challenges and opportunities the future offers the Australian Pipelines and Gas Association (APGA). One of the items the Board has changed in recent years is four of the six Board meetings will have an agenda item to review our progress on key strategic items. This regular review ensures the Board and Secretariat has good alignment with the strategy and…

President’s Message Mark Dayman, President, APGA The change of our Association’s name to the Australian Pipelines and Gas Association (APGA) has been quite timely given the challenges that are facing the gas industry in Australia. Over the last ten years the gas industry has been particularly buoyant with a significant number of projects, some of the largest projects ever undertaken in this country. Through the progress of these developments we have witnessed a continual stream of articles in the national press covering the challenges facing these mega projects. Australia is now well underway towards being one of the largest exporters…

President’s Message Mark Dayman, President, APGA All boards must plan. Whether they guide an industry association, small business or a major company, they must consider the strategic direction of their organisations. APIA’s Board does this in detail every three years. Our board comprises an interesting cross-section of the membership with a varied range of experience and ideas. Sectors represented by the current APIA board include: engineering and design companies, pipeline infrastructure owners, construction contractors, community consultation and environment. While there might be some gaps, this is a good representation of the industry with a variety of experience around the table.…
