Lester Franks announces new deal with AGIS Technology

GASlite GIS grew out of Lester Franks’ involvement in the Tasmanian Natural Gas Pipeline project and is a stand-alone application designed with the novice GIS user in mind while still providing the features that power-users want.

The software enables the user to view and overlay multiple layers of raster and vector information. Raster information that may be used includes aerial photographs and topographical maps while the vector information can include pipe centrelines, cadastral parcels and facilities drawings.

Lester Franks’ Managing Director Malcolm Lester described the agreement with AGIS as a massive boost for GASlite GIS. He said that to market Australian-made, pipeline specific GIS software in the US showed that Australian innovation was second to none.

“For many years it has been acknowledged that the Australian pipeline industry leads the world in many areas, our agreement with AGIS proves that this is still the case,” Mr Lester said.

“To think a state that just a few years ago had no transmission pipelines is now exporting its pipeline technology to the “˜home’ of the pipeline is testament to the entire team here at Lester Franks.”

The agreement will see AGIS market the software in addition to providing service and support to the North American market.

“One of the most attractive features of GASlite GIS is its licensing cost, which we targeted under one thousand Australian dollars, which when you consider the exchange rate makes it unbeatable value for the US market.”

“We are looking forward to breaking into the North American market and expanding GASlite to meet the ever evolving needs of consumers both overseas and here at home.”

Lester Franks Grows

Lester Franks has also recently announced their merger with Adelaide based Todd Alexander Surveyors. The merger means Lester Franks is now one of Australia’s largest surveying firms.

Lester Franks now has offices in Launceston, Hobart, Adelaide, Port Augusta and Melbourne with the ability to serve on any project in Australia.

Todd Alexander have extensive experience in the pipeline and broader energy sectors.

Malcolm Lester said he was thrilled with the new opportunity that the merger provided to further broaden Lester Franks’ experience and capabilities.
