The 78-km pipeline is designed to carry up to 162MMcf/d of gas, enough to fuel a 1,000MW plant. All of the gas shipping capacity is locked-up in a 30-year contract with Duke Energy.
In September, Duke halted work on the power plant because of weak power prices, but said it would re-evaluate energy market conditions to come up with a new start date for the power plant. Under terms of the contract with Williams, Duke can resell some or all of the contracted gas shipping capacity.
