The pipeline will eventually supply the Second West East gas pipeline.
The 184.5 km, 1,420 mm diameter pipeline will carry gas sourced from the Turkmenistan Malai gas field to China via Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan.
Stroytransgaz and Turkmengaz signed the EPC contract for construction of the project in 2008. The project is expected to commence operations in 2010.
