Technip awarded subsea pipeline services contract

The work will be performed in connection with the proposed Edvard Grieg oil pipeline as well as the Utsira gas pipeline, both in Norway.

The Edvard Grieg pipeline project will transport oil via a 43 km, 28 inch oil pipeline from Edvard Grieg platform to the exisiting Grane oil pipeline, toward the Sture terminal near Bergen, Norway. The Utsira gas pipeline will connect the Edvard Grieg platform to the Scottish Area Gas Evacuation pipeline near Aberdeen, Scotland.

Technip’s operating centre in Stavanger, Norway, will execute the project together with the group’s operating centre in Haugesund, Norway, which will be in charge of preparing and operating the pipeline repair system equipment.

Pipe production will be completed in 2013, and pipeline coating in 2014. Installation of new Y connection point in the Grane oil pipeline will be carried out in connection with the planned shutdown of Grane in the spring of 2014, while pipeline installation will take place in the summer of 2014 and tie-in operations in 2015. The pipeline will be ready for the start of production in the autumn of 2015.

The offshore campaigns will take place in 2013, 2014, and 2015, and will utilise state-of-the-art diving support and construction vessels from Technip’s fleet.
