TC Energy preps for Keystone XL

According to Global News, TC Energy has started US prep work as its opponents await a judge’s ruling on a request to block any work.

TC Energy Senior Communications Specialist Sara Rabern said the Calgary-based company was moving equipment this week and will begin environmental work along the 1,930 km pipeline route shortly after.

The work is planned in Montana, South Dakota and Nebraska, with the company planning to commence construction in northern Montana in April.

In January, environmental groups asked US District Judge Brian Morris to block any work on the project, saying clearing and tree felling along the route would destroy bird and wildlife habitat.

The judge had denied a previous request from environmentalists in December to block construction because no work was immediately planned.
