Mr Fermandez said that the Spanish embassy had been working on Gas Natural’s participation in the project since the issue was raised during a visit to Nigeria by Spanish Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero earlier this year.
The Trans Sahara pipeline will deliver Nigerian gas to the European market and is estimated to cost about $US12 billion.
