Sabal Trail Transmission commences gas transmission

The 828.8 km Sabal Trail underground pipeline will transport 1 billion cf (28,316,847 m3) of natural gas per day to meet the needs of the southeast region of the United States, particularly Alabama, Florida, and Georgia.

The first 138 km run through Alabama, with the remaining 690.8 km extending through Georgia, and ending in Central Florida.

The joint venture (JV) between Spectra Energy Partners, NextEra Energy Inc. and Duke Energy will increase the reliability of the delivery system to the region while positively impacting the economy, providing jobs and increased tax revenue.

The JV will have two compressor stations at each end of the pipeline, and will aim to have five stations constructed along the line by 2021.
