Richard Williamson wins Lifetime Achievement Award

Richard ‘Dick’ Williamson.

PEX Awards acknowledge individuals and companies that have made significant contributions to the oil and gas industry, and aim to recognise, promote and honour excellence in the pipeline industry.

Mr Williamson has been in the industry from more than 40 years; as the grandson of TDW’s founder, he worked at TDW while in high school working on service equipment.

After starting with TDW in 1971 as an engineer, Mr Williamson has worked in various senior roles, including Exectutive VP and COO, eventually taking over as President and CEO.

He served as Chairman of the Board from 1994 to 2016, when he became Chairman Emeritus.

Mr Williamson has been an active member and leader in the oil and gas industry throughout his career, involved in a number of professional organisations, including the American Gas Foundation, ASME IPTI Collegiate Council, Oklahoma State Chamber of Commerce, and Tulsa Global Alliance.

“I can’t think of anyone who embodies the spirit of this award like Dick does,” TDW Vice President of Global Solutions Engineering Jeff Wilson said.

“Dick Williamson is an integral part of the oil and gas industry. He knows this business inside and out.

“He knows the challenges our customers face, and he also has a deep understanding of what it’s like for TDW technicians and engineers in the field.

“TDW wouldn’t be the same without him.”

Mr Williamson said that he was honoured to receive the award.

“To receive something for a lifetime of effort on behalf of an industry I love and have served for so many years is something I shall cherish,” he said.

“I wish to acknowledge my deep gratitude and appreciation for all those I have been blessed to work among – people who were and are committed to build and sustain an industry that is critical to the viability of modern society.

“My personal thanks to all those who have guided and assisted me and so many others in our journey to become pipeliners.”
