Pipeloop, the global directory of pipeline professionals, will allow users to “shake a hundred hands in the blinking of an eye” according to Professional Institute of Pipeline Engineers (PIPE) Membership Manager Dan Lentell.
Pipeloop has many of the advantages familiar to users of social networking sites – but with the advantage of focusing exclusively on the pipeline sector.
The networking site is open to both members and non-members of PIPE. Non-members can sign up for a free listings-only inclusion.
The free listing allows users to display their name, title and employer as well as search for other users’ basic details.
Full access to users’ profiles, their contact details and to Pipeloop’s growing array of networking tools is exclusive to PIPE members.
PIPE is the international membership organisation for those who work in the planning, design, construction, operation and maintenance of oil and gas pipelines. There are two categories of PIPE membership: Individual (for engineers) and Associate (for those with corporate specialties such as sales and marketing working in the pipeline sector).
In addition to full access to Pipeloop, PIPE members receive discounts on pipeline-related publications and conferences available through its strategic partners including Clarion Technical Conferences (Houston) and Tiratsoo Technical (Beaconsfield).
Founded in 2007, PIPE promotes pipeliners and pipelining, providing an essential network of contact and information exchange for its membership. On the same night that Pipeloop was launched, PIPE’s 1000th member joined the association.
