Pipeline to offer new gas source for Eastern Wisconsin

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission approved the project in mid-December, and in mid-January pipeline owner ONEOK Partners accepted the order, said Neil Palmer, Guardian spokesman. “We’re going to be moving forward with the line,” he said, with construction planned to begin in March.

The project will help We Energies and Wisconsin Public Service Corp expand gas service in different parts of eastern Wisconsin. A consultant hired by the two utilities projected that the Guardian expansion will give Wisconsin enough pipeline capacity to meet growing demand for gas until about 2015. We Energies is building 22km of feeder pipelines in the Hartford and West Bend areas, as well as another 22-km long pipeline in the Fox Valley area.
