Gazprom’s proposed 900 km long South Stream Pipeline’s route will cross the Black Sea, and is planned to transport up to 63 Bcm/a of natural gas from Russia to South and Central Europe.
In January 2008, Russia and Bulgaria signed the Intergovernmental Agreement stipulating Bulgaria’s involvement in the South Stream project.
On 25 October this year, Gazprom and Bulgarian Energy Holding signed an agreement for the feasibility study for the Bulgarian section of the South Stream project.
Intergovernmental Agreements have also been signed with Bulgaria, Serbia, Hungary, Greece, Slovenia, Croatia, and Austria in order to implement the project’s onshore section beyond Russia.
