The 1,000 km pipeline will run from the Peruvian jungle to the coast, and will strengthen the transportation of existing natural gas liquids, directly impacting the development of the regions of Cusco, Arequipa, Moquegua, Puno, Apurimac, and Tacna.
Spanish energy company EnagÌÁs will act as qualified operator of the consortium, and will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of the pipeline, while Brazilian construction company Odebrecht will be in charge of the engineering, procurement, and construction of the pipeline.
The 34-year contract is the largest investment in infrastructure in the country’s history, and is expected to generate 7,000 direct jobs in its construction stage, leading to the much anticipated industrialisation of the south of Peru.
