NPCC takes out UAE pipeline contract

NPCC will perform the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) for the new pipeline, as well as production well tie-ins and flowlines that will connect the field to four new production facilities.

ADCO General Manager Abdul Munim Saif Al-Kindi told reporters that the contract will be executed in 30 months to increase the capacity of the Bab field from 1.4 MMbbl/d to 1.8 MMbbl/d by 2017.

Eight qualified companies submitted bids for the Bab development contract, including French firm Technip, Spain’s Tecnicas Reunidas, India’s Larsen & Toubro, along with South Korean firms GS Engineering & Construction and SK Engineering & Construction.

Located about 85 km southwest of Abu Dhabi City, the Bab oil field holds more than 500 MMbbl of proven oil reserves and is currently pumping 300,000 bbl/d of oil.
