Nacap’s works comprise of the design and execution of a shore approach and a lagoon crossing by horizontal directional drilling (HDD) technology, inclusive of all associated onshore pipe string preparations and onshore pipeline works, a scraper trap facility and a pig receiver.
All equipment that was utilised for the project is currently being prepared for export and demobilisation to Veendam, The Netherlands and Batam, Indonesia in preparation for future projects.
In September 2008 Nacap was awarded the contract for the execution of HDD and onshore pipeline works for the Muthurajawela SPBM by Leighton Contractors.
Leighton International installed the initial import facility designed to accommodate tankers with a maximum capacity of 60,000 t and the associated pipelines in 2003.
The current project is for the replacement of the existing SPBM with a new CALM-type dual type SPBM, an additional pipeline end manifold (PLEM) system, two floating and sub-sea hoses, offshore and onshore pigging facilities, 5.7 km of pipeline installed offshore by s-lay method, 0.45 km of pipeline installed offshore by horizontal directional drilling through the reef and lagoon, 0.90 km of pipeline installed onshore by horizontal directional drilling, and 0.45 km of pipeline installed onshore by open trenching.
