Head of International Pipeline Projects at Nabucco shareholder company OMV, Michael Ulbrich, said “Talks with the main supplier country, Azerbaijan, are slow and that conclusion will be postponed to 2011.”
In September 2010, the Nabucco Pipeline International consortium said in a statement that the timeline had been “slightly rescheduled” because of gas supply discussions.
“We are aligning our project efforts with the suppliers’ side. The shareholders are currently negotiating gas supply contracts which are a basis for the final investment decision,” Nabucco spokesman Christian Dolezal said.
Construction work on the project was previously scheduled to commence next year with first gas deliveries anticipated in 2014.
The approximately 4,000 km Nabucco gas pipeline will deliver additional volumes of gas from different sources through a new supply route to the EU member states and their neighbours.
